Roulette Game

Roulette GameDid you know the variations of roulette have a difference between them when it comes to house edge? If you are not aware of the different variations of roulette this page will help you.

European Roulette
The only feature of European Roulette that stands out is the single zero. As a common rule with all roulette variants, the aim is to guess where the ball might stop on the wheel. You need to choose either an Inside or Outside bet, or both before the wheel is spun.

This roulette game is the standard form played in European. It comprises of a single zero (37 slots in total) and does not offer bonuses or extra promos for any of the numbers. The house edge of this version of roulette is 2.63%.

Inside Bets
Straight - a single number.
Split - a bet on two numbers beside each other.
Street - a bet on 3 numbers placed on a single horizontal line.
Corner - a bet on 4 numbers in a square.
Six line - a bet on 2 adjacent rows.
Trio – bets on the intersection of 0,1,2,3

Outside Bets
1 to 18 or 19-36 – bets on either the lower set of numbers or the higher set.
Red or black – a bet on either red or black colored numbers
Odd or even – a bet placed on an odd or even number
Column bet – bets on one of the three vertical columns.
Dozen bet – a bet on 12 numbers 1-12, 13-24 or 25-36

American Roulette
The big difference between European and American Roulette is that there is an extra zero on this version. So now you have both “0″ and “00″ slots. That is 38 slots in total. American Roulette has the most awful house edge of all roulette games due to the double zero on the wheel rather than single zero that would make playing much simpler. Wonder who thought of that? I mentioned it in the history part on the Online Casino Roulette page. Because of this the house edge in the American roulette game is 5.26%, which honestly does not give you a very high chance of winning. For this reason, it is always recommended that you play the European Roulette unless you like betting on the zeros for fun (why would you?).

French Roulette
The French Roulette wheel is a lot similar to the European Roulette wheel that consists of one zero except there is a teeny-weeny difference if the ball lands on the zero slot. Traditionally half of the wagers on even money bets will be ‘En Prison’ if the ball lands on zero where the player can choose to take back half their wagers or leave it for the next spin with the same bet. However this version is a lot simpler when playing online and the decision is made for you by the house. Half of the player’s stakes are returned to you when a zero is spun. The house edge for the French Roulette version is 1.35% as long as you play even money bets.
