There are some many roulette players who play the game without knowing roulette odds or understanding the roulette odds and how they actually work. They probably know that if they correctly bet on a single number they will a massive payout, or if they got a win on a more general bet like on a color (red/black) or an odd/even number, they will get an even money payout from the casino. But not all roulette players know why or understand why.

The True Roulette Odds
On a roulette wheel there are 36 numbers (1 to 36). Each number on average should come up once every 36 times. So what this means is that every time any number comes up, then that number should theoretically not come up after another 35 times. This means the roulette odds on a single number being hit should be 35-1, which it is in all online casinos. The same principle applies to hitting one of a two number bet (17-1) odds, and hitting one of a four number bet (8-1 roulette odds). Hitting a red or black color will get you even money.

However, we have not calculated the odds according to the type of roulette game where some games use a single zero and others a double zero. This is where the casino house edge differs and where the casinos make their money in roulette. So as a result of these extra slots on the roulette wheel the odds of hitting a single are in fact 37-1 and not 35-1. The house edge works out to be about 5.26 percent.

What To Know About Roulette Odds
The different types of roulette games have different zero slots. For example the American roulette game has a zero and a double zero slots, where as the European roulette game has just a zero slot. So from this you can see that the European version is the game to play since the House gets it edge from the zero slots and the American version has an extra one. Having one less zero slot actually cuts the House edge in half to 2.36%. The amazing thing is most roulette players play the American version and I have no idea why that is… I guess it’s because they think all the roulette games are the same except for the name? When it comes to money I wouldn’t be that ignorant… do your research… it’s so important.
